Grocon contracted Delta Group to complete demolition and civil construction works in preparation for a new $700m mixed use residential, entertainment, retail and hospitality precinct in Darling Harbour – The Ribbon Sydney.

The scope of works included:

  • Site set up, including amenities, materials hoist, gantries and full height perimeter scaffold.
  • Demolition of existing IMAX cinema complex (the largest in the world) down to basement level and including internal strip out.
  • Bulk/detailed excavation works allowing for the construction reinforced concrete foundations.
  • Construction of crane bases.
  • Slab preparation, as well as supply and placement of basement backfill.
  • Emissions, noise and vibration controls.
  • Transport logistics, including traffic management and supervision.
  • Site dewatering.
  • Recycling of construction waste materials.
  • Removal of asbestos and hazardous waste

In keeping with our efforts on the neighbouring ICC Sydney project, we successfully undertook major demolition works in a constrained, high density CBD location adjacent to Sydney Harbour and without disruption to residential amenity and ambience, high volume pedestrian traffic throughout the Darling Harbour precinct, major arterial transport thoroughfares, or commercial business, retail and hospitality operations – all located within close proximity of the site.

Our extensive civil construction works programme is ongoing.
