The NSW Government awarded Delta Group the contract to complete demolition and civil construction works as part of Stage Two of Australia’s biggest transport project – the $11.5b Sydney Metro City & Southwest.

Our work will involve the demolition of up to 60 structures, including high rise commercial buildings and a mixture of low rise residential, retail, commercial, mixed use and industrial buildings spread across 6 locations in metropolitan Sydney:

  • Pitt Street
  • Waterloo
  • Marrickville
  • Chatswood
  • Crows Nest
  • Victoria Cross

We are also responsible for providing a single source project management solution that includes civil retention and excavation works to prepare each site for the next phase of construction, as well as the recycling of construction waste materials and safe removal of asbestos or hazardous waste.

Under strict guidelines imposed by the NSW Government, Local Council and community stakeholders, we have developed extensive management plans to accommodate and closely manage environmental impacts, as well as to protect highly sensitive heritage listed sites and structures at each location.

Traffic management plans and emission, noise and vibration controls for a project of this scale were paramount and our experience in operating within high density and congested environments was a major factor in our successful bid.

In particular, we have the proven ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders and to complete large scale and complex demolition and civil construction works without disrupting residential amenity and ambience, major traffic corridors and transport thoroughfares, commercial businesses, or the supply of essential services and utilities.

The project is progressing without incident and according to the agreed programme.
