The Victorian Government Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) engaged Delta Group to design and deliver concurrent and consecutive demolition work programs across multiple sites in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria – including North Melbourne, Preston, Northcote, Brunswick, Brighton, Hawthorn and Colac.

Our scope of works included:

  • Site set up and preparation, including amenities, gantries, scaffold and full perimeter hoardings
  • Soft and hard strip outs, including materials handling and plant/services removal
  • Transport logistics, including traffic management and supervision
  • Recycling and waste management, including retention of bricks for use in future development and construction works
  • Key stakeholder engagement: local government, residential communities, regulatory authorities, primary/secondary schools and businesses
  • Services isolation, diversion and relocation
  • Temporary Works engineering and design: bracing and propping
  • Significant asbestos removal and disposal, including industrial scale remediation of 30,000t asbestos contaminated soil in densely populated and congested urban environment

Delta Group implemented best practice principles and proactively ensured regulatory compliance throughout the works. Concise documentation and stakeholder engagement skills helped to ensure the Victorian Government and DHHS were positioned well when members of the public raised concerns or issues such as high risk asbestos removal and demolition works.

  • Total 209 residential structures involved mechanical and manual demolition methods across 28 walk up buildings between 1-3 stories high: 21 x 1 Bedroom Units; 100 x 2 Bedroom Units; 76 x 3 Bedroom Units; and 8 x Single Storey Houses
