Probuild engaged Delta Group to complete simultaneous internal strip out works across 53 levels and three separate high rise CBD structures, including protection works for significant, heritage listed internal and external facades.

Our scope of works included:

  • Structural demolition works within Podium, including Post-Tensioned Beams & Slab under engineered methodology
  • Demolition of internal lift shafts
  • Deconstruction existing plant rooms
  • Floor penetration for future Lift Core penetrations
  • Partial Capping Beam demolition and Temporary Propping
  • Facade demolition to Little Collins Street, Queen Street and Briscoe Lane structures
  • Various internal staircase demolition, including salvage of bluestone staircase
  • X2 Internal Birdcage scaffolding within Campiellos and Atriums

In what was Delta Group’s largest ever internal strip out project, unique attributes included BROKK robot plant operations; the deployment of a 22t Excavator working internally to demolish Level 2 post tensioned beams within a 4 Level Basement using engineered sequencing; and innovative methodologies for material handing – including various dump chutes, lifts, conveyors, and ramps.

The works also accommodated a fully operational ANZ Bank and Basement Safe Deposit Box facility connected to the site. Strict (CoM Sensitive Zone 1) emissions, vibration and noise controls were in place, with Temporary Works engineering overcoming floor loading restrictions as a result of timber and precast flooring from the original 1920s construction. Load out required extensive traffic management planning as a result of the site location in the heart of Melbourne CBD and the heavily congested Collins and Queen Street intersection.

Key project statistics included :

  • 200+ workers at peak
  • Nil environmental breaches – emissions, vibrations, noise
  • 500+ heavy vehicle movements
  • 100% compliance with Subcontractor Quality Audit
  • 1500+ Temporary Props Installed & Removed
