Mossop Construction contracted Delta Group to deliver a civil and demolition works programme to support the development of a new state-of-the-art Aged Care facility in suburban Adelaide.

Our scope of works included:

  • Remediation of the asbestos fragments from site setting up asbestos work areas and hand picking the non-friable asbestos under asbestos conditions.
  • Constructing piling pad for bored piles, capping beams and shotcrete wall.
  • Demolition of existing piles and saw-cutting existing capping to provide an opening from new basement to existing basement.
  • Bulk excavating 16,000t of soil for a new basement.
  • Excavating, shaping and preparing all external pavement and landscaped areas.
  • Preparing and pouring new DPTI specification concrete kerbing and back filling with deep lift asphalt along a major DPTI arterial road under traffic control.

Unique attributes and site specific challenges involved:

  • Existing live underground services.
  • Multiple trades in staged format to complete the works – plumbers, concreters, landscapers.
  • Major DPTI arterial road with an average traffic volume 15,000 vehicles per day.
  • Fully operational nursing home and care facilities.
  • Congested location – extensive traffic management and coordination of works (including loading and carting of 16,000t of soil) for off-peak hours between 9am to 4pm.

The project was delivered on time, on budget and without incident.
