Demolition and environmental management works – Newman Concentrator structure and Bone Yard clean up; Old Nursery Suction Dam; West Mine Fuel Bullets; Midway Laydown Area clean up; and South Secondary MCC Structure, Hydrosizing System, Train Loadout and Conveyor System
Due to the South Secondary process system utilising acid for the leaching process, there was potential for radioactive scale within the MCC structure

Key Challenges

Adhering to the site specific Radiation Management Plan, contaminated material/waste was placed in concrete bunding for further testing and to prevent leaching into groundwater
All steel and C&D waste material was decontaminated and tested prior to load out and transport
Unknown quantities of concrete located under the Newman Concentrator
