Unique Attributes

  • Environmental management works, including delamination, drainage and conditioning of unstable ash areas; manage haul roads, independent fuel supply and satellite amenities
  • Geotechnical investigations and approvals to enable placement of capping material
  • Tipping and spreading of the ash at approved EPA Victoria storage facility

Key Challenges

  • High productivity and utilisation rates required to minimise ‘out of service’ time for the ash pond. Fully operational power station responsible for 30% of Victorian supply
  • Highly variable (ash) properties across the pond with very low geotechnical strength. Custom plant upgrades to facilitate low-ground bearing pressure specs via specialised tracks, as well as deployment of specialist amphibious plant
  • Strict geotechnical specifications for capping thicknesses, batter angles, plant offsets and excavation depths
