Job Description

As a Field Service Mechanic for CMA, you will be required to service and maintain a wide range of late model heavy plant and equipment. The role requires travel across the Hunter Valley to service CMA’s plant and equipment at various project sites, inclusive of mine sites and other industrial sites. You will have a strong service background in mechanical maintenance, specialising in heavy earth moving equipment. A background in construction and experience with Hitachi, Yanmar, Mustang, Cat, Komatsu and/or Volvo plant would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on earthmoving equipment and attachments.
  • Minor and major repairs on earthmoving equipment and attachments.
  • Attend breakdowns on site.
  • Troubleshooting and testing of components, engine, transmissions, hydraulic systems and fuel systems
  • Maintain accurate and complete service records
  • Compliance with HSEQ management systems and performance standards

Qualifications & Experience

  • Current/valid Driver’s License
  • Willingness to undertake and pass a drug and alcohol test as required
  • Trade qualifications in the Heavy Earthmoving Equipment or Automotive industry sectors
  • Experience in field service environments, particularly construction sites
  • High-level mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical skills
  • Excellent communication – written and verbal, including literacy, the ability to follow technical manuals/documentation
  • Ability and willingness to complete site specific (mine) inductions
  • Current (existing) Hunter Valley mine site inductions
  • Basic level proficiency in most Microsoft Office 365 packages with a strong knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Background in construction and experience with Hitachi, Yanmar, Mustang, Cat, Komatsu, and/or Volvo plant would be advantageous
  • Proven capacity to multitask
  • High-level decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritise and follow up
