Delta SA has been shortlisted for the 2025 World Demolition Awards, attracting international attention for their work on the complex Adelaide Festival Plaza Tower 2 project for client WalkerCorporation.
With our NSW crew the reigning 2024 category winner for their work on the Sandstones Precinct job in The Rocks, Sydney – we know first hand just how competitive this category is and to make the shortlist is an achievement in its own right.
According to our SA Divisional Manager, Elliot Nuberg, the project wasn’t just a demolition job; it was a model for how complex, constrained, and critical urban works can be executed with unparalleled precision, care, and innovation.

“Tasked with deconstructing a carpark and building new foundations for Adelaide’s first skyscraper, our team deconstructed a 1,000m2 plaza footprint across five levels in a live carpark, and delivered outstanding results under incredibly challenging conditions,” he said.
Operating eleven day-and-night shifts weekly with a peak workforce of more than one hundred, the Delta SA team employed advanced saw-cutting techniques, custom-engineered machinery, and modular temporary works to navigate the restricted 2.2m headroom, groundwater challenges, and high-security environments. More than 4,000m2 of suspended slab was removed, supported by 2,000 props and 30 tonnes of structural steel – all while maintaining live carpark operations for stakeholders including the adjacent Parliament House and Adelaide Casino.

Key innovations included bespoke low-clearance drilling rigs, a custom air ventilation system to ensure optimal air quality and manage dangerous emissions such as silica dust, and the installation of 150 ground anchors in an extremely challenging Geotech environment.
Despite logistical and urban constraints such as no truck access, limited air flow, and a live above-and-below ground urban setting – the project was delivered on time, on budget, and with zero lost time injuries. Winners of the 2025 World Demolition Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony to be held in Nashville, Tennessee, in November.
