It’s why we leapt into action when asked to respond to an emergency for Dubbo-based developer Walkom Brothers recently. Following a crane collapse we mobilised our people and plant from Sydney to Dubbo for challenging (and urgent) make safe and recovery works.
Working closely with the client, SafeWork NSW and other stakeholders, our team rapidly established exclusion zones and emergency access controls, before finalising dismantling and progressive load release methodologies, including staged unloading of damaged boom sections using synchronised lifting systems to avoid sudden structural failure. Damaged crane components were also cut into engineered liftable sections to reduce dynamic loading risks.
The team were also responsible for the design and installation of bespoke temp works and stabilisation systems, such as temporary propping as well as the truncation and removal of post-tensioned slabs. Engineered heavy lifts were also carried under compromised conditions.
The (successful) response was a great demonstration of the depth of our capabilities beyond traditional demolition – showcasing our integrated enabling works expertise across engineering, planning, and execution in complex and high-risk environments.
