The combination of technical expertise with a Safety in Design approach drove risk managed, site specific demolition methodologies in South Melbourne recently.

Decades of experience in complex urban environments along with tertiary educated inhouse engineers and practical independent temporary works engineers affords a deep understanding of how modern structures will behave during high risk demolition works, particularly structures which include precast and post tensioned structural elements.

Our knowledge sharing systems retain IP developed and proven on projects we have delivered Australia wide, helping inform the methodologies we use to win (and deliver) future jobs.

While load bearing precast panels aren’t unique, our risk managed method was designed with this specific site in mind.

The recovery of precast panels from a height of up to 20 metres – with a maximum floor loading of 3 tonne – was achieved by deploying a small spider crane with temporary propping, multi-staged with the progressive partial demolition of slabs, columns and beams to enable the panel lifts.

Traditional long reach mechanical demolition methods could then be used to successfully complete the works.

Our technical expertise and safety in design approach is a key value-add we provide all of our clients.
