Job Description

As a Senior Estimator & Design Support with Browns Piling in New South Wales, you will assist and grow our capability in estimating and tender support. You’ll support pre-tender planning, collect and coordinate tender requirements, engage suppliers/subcontractors, and help prepare compliant, competitive tender submissions. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and support project handover to delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow Browns’ QSE management systems and Browns Estimation Process to deliver accurate, timely tender responses
  • Collect and coordinate tender information and requirements (scope, time, cost, QA, risk, procurement and communication requirements)
  • Define scope and develop work breakdowns using BOQ, drawings and take-offs; maintain the tender register
  • Engage and issue RFTs to subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing (including alternative solutions where appropriate)
  • Develop and present cost estimates for internal review and external submissions; submit tenders for review in line with internal delegation requirements
  • Assist with preliminary pile design inputs/methodology and contribute to estimating durations and tender programs
  • Attend tender interviews and site inspections as required
  • Support project handover to project teams (scope, program, methodology, budget)
  • Proactively seek process improvements to enhance business results and tender outcomes

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in estimating (ideally within civil, geotechnical, piling or construction environments)
  • Sound understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to interpret drawings/BOQs (plan reading)
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or similar) is desirable
  • Strong commercial judgement and decision-making capability
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines while maintaining agreed quality standards
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
  • Computer literacy with estimating and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project / Primavera P6) is advantageous
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, practical and improvement-focused approach
  • Commitment to safety and compliance (OHS/WHS)
