Job Description

As a Fabrication Supervisor with Delta, you will be responsible for overseeing all welding and fabrication operations within the workshop. This role leads a skilled team to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining strict compliance with workplace health and safety requirements. All applicants must provide a current CV, references, and any relevant (and current) certifications or accreditations. Key Responsibilities

  • Set clear performance expectations and maintain effective communication across the team
  • Manage, train, mentor, and motivate a team of Welders and Fabricators, Fitter & Turner, and Apprentice
  • Coordinate daily workflow, allocate tasks, and monitor progress to meet project deadlines.
  • Conduct quality inspections and ensure all work complies with technical drawings, specifications and requirements.
  • Implement and enforce OH&S policies and procedures
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks, provide safety training, and maintain a safe working environment
  • Offer expert advice and hands-on support for welding processes, equipment, and complex technical drawings
  • Troubleshoot fabrication issues and ensure technical accuracy in all projects
  • Manage inventory of materials, tools, and equipment to support production needs
  • Coordinate maintenance and servicing of workshop equipment to minimise downtime
  • Liaise with site engineers and project managers regarding site and workshop drawings and job requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in welding and fabrication supervision
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and inspection procedures
  • Fabrication qualifications i.e. trade qualification in boiler making, welding, fitter/turner or equivalent
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • A basic understanding of or willingness to learn in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Fastcam) for creating, reviewing and interpreting designs, and setting up jobs for the profile cutter
  • Experience in the repair and manufacturing of earthmoving equipment and attachments
