Whelan the Warehouse is a key division of Delta Recycling. We specialise in recycled Australian hardwoods, posts and beams, solid timber joinery, furniture grade timbers, rough sawn, D.A.R and decking. We also carry a large range of solid T&G timber flooring, both recycled and new, and we are the exclusive distributor for premium Hydrowood products from Tasmania. Our history goes back to 1892 when a family owned demolition company called Whelan the Wrecker began recycling demolition and construction waste from across Victoria. Not much has changed in 126 years, except that we are now part of Delta Group and that our timber comes from demolition and construction sites from across Australia, as well as from the pristine waters of Lake Pieman in Tasmania. More often than the timber that makes it way to our warehouse comes with a unique provenance; literally timber with a story.

 

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a hands-on and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to assist in managing the day-to-day operations, with a focus on receipting, picking, customer service/sales and the timely dispatching of goods.

To be successful in this role you must have experience in the following areas and able to perform the required duties;

  • Previous Timber Yard / Building industry experience
  • A valid Forklift license
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Strong time management, organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Result-oriented and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated good computer skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all warehouse activities including organising the safe and efficient storage of warehouse goods
  • Ensure daily deliveries are accurate and checked as per company policy
  • All equipment in warehouse (including but not limited to forklifts) are regularly inspected are maintained
  • Assist the sales team in the processing of accurate quotes and sales orders
  • Maintain and replenishing stock in shelving systems
  • Answer telephone calls as and when required
  • Maintain up to date inventory
  • Have an awareness of and meet department deadlines
  • Ensure proper follow-up with clients
  • Understanding the products and their suitable application
  • Processing paperwork in accordance with company procedures
  • Assist with other areas as and when required ie. Supporting Sales Manager

Position is full time, Monday to Friday and some Saturday’s
