In the past the site has been a quarry and concrete batching plant. Both closed many years ago and the site has been unused and due to the large lake onsite an ecosystem has evolved.

Key Features


  • Bulk earthworks over the site (88,000m2) All uncontrolled fill is being removed to stockpiles, if required it is screened to remove oversize fill, and recompacted under level 1 supervision. Approx 150,000m3 of material is being removed/recompacted. Delta Rent have supplied Dump trucks, a compactor and grader.
  • Installation of Boulder Retaining Walls throughout the site
  • Works to the existing lake including:
  • Installation of two temporary dam walls to allow work in sections of the lake, whilst maintaining the stability of the ecosystem and minimal impact on the surrounding environment.
  • Removal of existing Island, and reinstatement with suitable material
  • Installation of Gabion Walls and Stone pitching to the perimeter of the island and banks of the lake.
  • Installation of Bridge piers and footings
  • Stabilization of the old quarry cut face (approx 10m high cliff)
  • Installation of 560 soil nails
  • Shotcrete protection over 950m2
  • Rock-fall mesh over 1,200m2
