The decommissioning and deconstruction of the 500,000 sqm Hydro Aluminium Smelter in the Hunter Valley will create exciting new development opportunities.
As the lead contractor for the staged decommissioning and deconstruction of the enormous Kurri Kurri Aluminium Smelter we have been responsible for transforming an industrial landscape for the local community.
The first stage of our work involved more than 20,000 man hours and 4,000 crane lifts to demolish 2.2km of Potline buildings. More than 4,000t of scrap steel was processed and transported off site, with another 3,600t of aluminium sections removed and stored on site. Our forklifts travelled 6,200km as they transported scrap commodities to lay-down areas and we recycled over 7,600t of steel and aluminium
Our works programme for Stage Two is ongoing and has involved 10 controlled fells as well as the deconstruction of Potline 3 which included a 750m long portal frame and suspended concrete slab.
Large scale deconstruction and decommissioning experience Australia-wide, including marine-based services.
