In 2011 Delta Group was contracted to demolish the existing terminal at Canberra Airport in preparation for a new structure to be built. The demolition was done in stages to allow interface between the old and the new structures.
Scope of Work:
The rebuilding of a new terminal at Canberra Airport required the existing terminal to be removed in stages as the new terminal was being built.
Stage one of the demolition was started after creating an interface between the new and the old buildings.
The next stage involved removing half of the existing terminal, which made way for the northern section of the new terminal and terminal apron to be built.
Once the northern end was complete, removal the remaining southern section of the building commenced. The work was done under the strict ASIC Air Side Conditions which must be met when working in an operational airport.
