Hazardous removal, demolition and remediation of Boral plant
Delta Group were the successful tenderer of the Jandakot Masonry Plant Hazardous Removal, Demolition and Remediation Project for Boral. Delta removed in excess of 2000m2 of asbestos roof sheeting from plant structures as tall as 35m, along with various other hazardous materials used for the production of masonry products.
Delta then proceeded to demolish the plant. The Cassani Plant was made up of two main structures, one of which was a 35m high batching plant, Delta utilised a diverse technique of felling, where the structure with all its contents was hinged at its centre allowing the fell impact zone to be reduced by less than half. Upon completion of the demolition Delta removed the concrete pavement to the entire floor area which was then crushed, recycling the concrete into a reusable product.
Asbestos was identified below the pavement which was found to be left over materials from the original building stage. In conjunction with third party hygienists, Delta devised a remediation plan allowing the works to be successfully completed with minimal commercial impact to the Client, the site area was given a clean bill of health and the project was completed on time without incident.
